mike, the point isn't that these aren't important applications.  the
point is that they are off topic for this talk to this audience.  room
full of skeptical ops monkeys, they don't want to hear about new
application protocols that somebody proposes to inflict upon them.
they want to hear about how to defend the protocols that they're
already required to run.

good topic for a different presentation.
